Anita is Head of the Fashion Section and Digital Lead at Manchester Fashion Institute at Manchester Metropolitan University which is one of the largest fashion schools in the UK.
She has extensive theoretical and practical experience in fashion digital technology and mechanical automation for manufacturing. Involved in some of the first commercial applications of 3D prototyping for fashion design and retail buying during her career spanning nearly two decades in the Fashion Industry Anita worked developing products across the globe for a range of well-known Fashion brands in locations such as Portugal, Morocco and Malaysia.
Moving on to work in Higher Education, her interest in pedagogy led her to the role of Associate Dean for Teaching and Learning whilst leading on a variety of key projects such as the development of the fashion innovation lab at Manchester Fashion Institute where she is currently involved in teaching digital innovation and fashion product development involving VR, Ai, AR, and 3D prototyping. A Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, a Chartered member of the Textile Institute, Anita holds a number of external examining posts with other elite Fashion Schools in the UK.
Currently driving a successful digital strategy within the university Anita is in the process of completing her Doctor of Education (EdD) ‘Reframing Fashion Education’ whilst also authoring a new book due out this year called Advances in Sewn Product Technology commissioned by the publisher Taylor and Francis.
